The number of youth development programs throughout the country has grown exponentially as a result of the demand to focus greater attention on the needs of individuals ages 12 to 24. Consequently, there is an endeavor to support these programs with qualified frontline youth workers, directors, and administrators.

In response to the ongoing expansion of this pivotal sector, the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) will launch an Advanced Certificate in Youth Studies in fall 2016.  The advanced certificate provides an opportunity to deepen students’ understanding of the relationship between youth and society by analyzing current policies, opportunities, and best practices related to the field.  It also responds the needs of those working in youth services by providing a pathway for professional development

The deadline for program applications is July 27th and scholarship applications are due by July 15th.


Scholarships Available for Program Staff and Supervisors

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD)  is offering scholarships for the Family Development Credential (FDC) Program for frontline staff; and the Family Development Credential Program for Supervisors for supervisors, managers and directors. Both programs emphasize a family development approach as a way of redirecting how health, education, and human services are delivered to families and individuals. 

Scholarship applications are due by Friday, July 22ndClasses  begin on Friday, September 16 (for FDC for frontline staff), and Friday September 9 (for FDC for Supervisors), and are offered at City University of New York (CUNY) campuses.
