Accounting Coordinator, Finance Department
The After-School Corporation (TASC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving all kids expanded learning opportunities that educate, support and inspire them. Reporting to the Director of Finance and working closely with other members of the finance team, TASC is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to contribute to the efficient functioning of the finance department by ensuring that accounting policies and procedures are followed in preparing all financial transactions and reports.
Responsibilities:
- Review coding of accounts payable entries for proper classifications, documentation and approvals before posting to the general ledger.
- Maintain or review monthly analysis of all general ledger accounts for completeness and accuracy.
- Reconcile all bank accounts, perform month-end closing process and draft the financial reporting package.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and the allocation matrix of OTPS and indirect expenses.
- Calculate allocation amounts for posting to general ledger.
- Periodically audit petty cash, and any other fungible funds held on site.
- Provide general ledger detail to the finance team for inclusion in reports to funders.
- Prepare analysis of department variances versus approved operating budgets.
- Work closely with auditors on completion of the annual financial audit and periodic program and regulatory audits.
- Assist in the preparation and/or reconciliation of management, financial and regulatory reports, including W-2s, 1099’s, IRS Forms 990 and 5500.
- Perform periodic internal control reviews of all TASC departments.
- Serve as a back-up to the Payroll Coordinator.
- Perform additional, related duties, as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least two years experience in implementing and maintaining financial controls and reporting analysis
- Interest/background in non-profit management
- Attention to detail and high standards for presentation of written material
- Demonstrated strength in organizing, multi-tasking, setting priorities and meeting deadlines
- Strong computer skills: knowledge of Word, Excel and the internet required; knowledge of Access, Outlook and accounting software; Microsoft Dynamics – Solomon or Great Plains preferred.
