Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: The Activity Instructor choreographs and teaches participants various forms of dance and step including hip hop, contemporary, modern, jazz, African, and step.
Assist in the recruitment of class participants.
Provide and teach well planned dance classes to participants.
Develop dance curriculum (based on programmatic theme) encompassing an array of different aspects of the dance field; providing participants with experience and knowledge of various dance professions. Curriculum will promote creativity, self-expression, mastery, and emotional and professional growth.
Plan and implement a culminating event or project.
Supervise support staff assigned to your group.
Maintain strict adherence to policies and procedures at all times.
Attend all staff meetings and staff development trainings sessions, as specified.
Provide direction, supervision and guidance at all times.
Create a youth development, strength’s based environment, fostering a sense of belonging, safety, and community to participants.
Responsible for the setup, operation and clean up of activities and the organization, inventory and storing of relevant supplies and equipment.
Submit lesson/activity plans in advance.
Guide program participants in examining choices, following directions and becoming involved in program activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or GED required.
Some college and experience with adolescents preferred.
Experience and/or training relevant to the position required.
Must be able to engage young people and set structure and limits in a group setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have a commitment to work from a trauma-informed, strength-based and youth and family development perspective
