Position Overview
Sunnyside Community Services (SCS) is a multi-service settlement house located in Western Queens. The SCS Job Readiness Program serves at risk youth aged 16-21 who reside in under resourced households. Program staff form strong bonds with participants and support them through the attainment of educational and employment goals and milestones. The program is seeking a skilled Administrative Coordinator with knowledge of administrative best practices to help monitor and document participant progress for the agency and program funders.   
The Administrative Coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Executive Director for Youth and Family Services (AsED). This temporary position is budgeted to conclude during August 2011 and has a 25 hour per week commitment.
Position Responsibilities                      
Support the milestone attainment and certification process by:
  • Tracking and collecting supportive documentation from participants, partner agencies, schools and employers
  • Submitting documentation to funders and following up on claims
  • Updating participant files
  • Collect and track program eligibility documentation from participants and families
Prepare for and participate in program administrative audits and site visits
 
Prepare briefing reports on milestone and goal attainment progress
 
Enter data and case notes into online database
 
Attend relevant trainings, staff development opportunities, and meetings
 
Help coordinate and track student participation in program activities
 
Work with the AsED and program staff to ensure program is compliant with guidelines specified by its funders
 
Aid the AsEd and program staff in the budget management process

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working for programs that serve youth
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Cleared background check and fingerprints indicating ability to work with youth
  • Knowledge of budgeting
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Explorer
  • Sense of humor with an ability to be flexible and work as a member of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese), Korean, or Bengali
  • Experience working on Workforce Investment Act (WIA) youth contracts
  • Knowledge of the Capricorn database

Salary

Starting at $19 per hour
