Job Description:

 

Teach literacy skills to English Language Learners in 6th, 7th and 8th grades at an after school program operating Tuesday-Thursday. The program runs from 3pm-5:00pm during after school hours. In addition, there will be two-three prep hours per week. The instructor will develop individual education plans for each student, develop lesson plans, provide instruction, evaluate participant progress, track relevant data, communicate with parents, and supervise assistant instructor(s) and volunteer tutor(s). The instructor will also attend mandatory professional development trainings, and meet regularly with supervisor and other staff members to share best practices and address challenges.
 

Required Skills/Experience:

 

 

 

·   Must be a literacy coach with a Master’s degree in reading or a certified teacher.
·   Must have at least three years experience providing literacy instruction to English Language Learners.
·   Must have experience working with middle school children
·   Familiarity with LAS Links test is desirable.
·   Must be committed to providing services in a manner that is sensitive to the diverse cultures and background of participants.
 
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
