Job Description:
After-School Digital Arts Teachers (Video Game Design, CGI, Programming, and more) Experienced not-for-profit seeks energetic and enthusiastic Programming or Video Game Design Teachers to join our 2014-15 After-School team. Candidates must be punctual, reliable, personable, and have experience teaching grades K-8. We are looking for individuals who can effectively teach one or more programming languages to middle school students and various digital arts to elementary students. Positions are available for Elementary (K-5) & Middle School (6-8) in the following fields:
ELEMENTARY:
-Scratch or other video game design software (Grades 2-3 and 4-5)
-Video Game Design
-CGI & Special Effects Animation
-Coding & Minecraft
-Circuits & Electronics
MIDDLE SCHOOL: Programming in Java, Python, Ruby, SQL, etc.
Commitment:
-Semesters run Sep-Jan and Feb-June. We prefer teachers that can commit to both sessions.
-Classes run every day the DOE is in session, including half-days.
1st period 3:15-4:30 (most classes are 1st period)
o 2nd period 4:45-6:00 (limited classes operate 2nd period)
-Lesson plans and curriculum based on organization's class description and goals
-Culminating events at the end of both semesters, usually the last 2 weeks of program
-Mid-semester progress reports to distribute to parents (group updates, not individual)

Qualifications:
-Excellent academic and practical experience in your subject area; professional experience a plus
-Two years minimum teaching experience -Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Strong demonstrated commitment to serving children (K-8) in diverse communities and neighborhoods across NYC
-For all positions, a positive attitude and a team-player mindset is a must. We are looking for hardworking, proactive, professional staff.
Compensation: $43/hour (1.25 hours per class, 1 or 2 classes per day)
