After School Program- Group Leader

High school diploma, two years of college preferred. Two years of related experience working in an after school program and summer camp.

The Group Leader is responsible for the direct supervision of small groups of program participants and the group assistant. The main goal is the continuous enhancement of program presentation to participants and their parents. 

 

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to the duties listed in the job description.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

• Supervise groups of program participants during program hours
• Ensure accurate daily attendance and sign-out for assigned group
• Plan and implement organized and creative educational, recreational activities
• Escort participants to the program from designated schools when assigned
• Attend orientations, trainings, workshops and staff meetings as scheduled

 

Other performance factors:

 

-          Consistently reports to work on time and ready to begin work at the start of their designated shift.

-          Always provides proper notification when late or absent.

-          Available to work overtime when necessary. (Only non-exempt employees.)

-          Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in the organization of workflow.

-          Able to perform duties independently, with minimal need of direct supervision.

-          Maintains the confidentiality of participants, programs and Kingsbridge Heights Community Center.

-          Reports to work well groomed and dressed appropriately for program needs.

-          Demonstrates the ability to interact in a positive and helpful manner with participants, visitors, contracted staff, volunteers and co-workers.

-         Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude at the work place and towards the job.

-          Projects a good image in dealing with the public and participants.
