Job Description:
Sunnyside Community Service is a settlement house based in Sunnyside section of Queens. At P.S. 199 After-School program, we service 200 students in grades k-4th.
Monday through Thursday the program provides time for students to complete their homework and to then take part in a rotating selection of activities including martial arts, locking (dance), visual art, violin, and sports.
We are currently seeking a counselor that will provide community service programs to 4th grade students. This position requires that you be able to work Wednesday and Fridays 3-6PM.
Job Description:
- Ability to work with elementary levels, grades k-4
- Monitors individual students, classroom, recreational activities, etc. for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
- Report and keep records of observations and incidents
- Take daily attendance.
- Submit monthly lesson plans.
- Utilize leadership, advocacy and collaboration skills.
- Provide preventive services and promote student success.
- Any additional duties as needed
Required Skills/Experience:
· A Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related mental health field, Master’s degree preferred.
· Must be qualified to provide counseling, psychotherapy, family therapy, and related services.
· A minimum of three years experience working with youth.
· Must be 21 years of age or older.
