Job Description:

The Director of Curriculum, Learning & Instruction oversees curriculum development and training for community-based programs in Manhattan and Brooklyn to ensure the delivery of effective programming. 

·         Oversee development of curricula, with an emphasis on principles of racial equity and social justice and appropriate for the developmental needs of children (grades K-8) in an after-school setting across multiple sites in Manhattan and Brooklyn
·         Researchand coordinate the use of age-appropriate, standards-based curriculum (e.g. thematic or project-based) to ensure participants learn through a variety of fun and engaging activities
·         Work in collaboration with the Director, Site Coordinator and Education Specialist to identify themes and objectives aligned to the day-school curriculum
·         Assist the staff (Group Leaders, Site Coordinators and Activity Specialists) by providing educational resources and sharing best practices for successful implementation of selected curriculum
·         Oversee development and implementation of professional development program for after-school program staff.
·         Facilitate staff development sessions with Education Specialists, Group Leaders and Activity Specialists to review curriculum materials and ensure understanding of content
·         Oversee program quality initiatives, including observations, Education Specialist and Site Coordinator coaching, and goal-
·         Oversee program evaluation, including the Algorhythm Assessment and Evaluation tool 


·         Other duties as assigned by the Director

Required Skills/Experience:


  •  MA/MS in related field required
  • 3-5 years of experience in an administrative role in an after-school program or another type of community-based program
  • Experience in curriculum planning, development and writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving ability, and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and in presentation formats
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative management team
  • Ability to think creatively, encourage enthusiasm, and develop outstanding programs 
  • Strong passion and comprehension of the principles of Racial Equity, Social Justice, and Advocacy
  • Solid training and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work with staff of various skill-sets across disciplines; demonstrated coaching ability
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
