Title:         Extended Day Program Assistant         

Location:  Extended Day Enrichment Program at The Highbridge Green School, MS 361, Bronx, NY

Reports to:  Program Director

Job Summary:

The Extended Day Program Assistant will assist with the daily operations of WHEDCo’s Extended Day Enrichment program at The Highbridge Green School.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Program Director and School Principal, and working in conjunction with relevant staff and other supervisors, the Program Assistant will assist with the planning, supervising and implementation of the Extended Day Enrichment program for middle school-aged children.

 

  • Assist Program Director and School Administration in daily operations of program.
  • Administer daily staff time log and participant attendance log.
  • Act as liaison between the Program Director, program participants and their families.
  • Take on special assignments that pertain to the goals and objectives of WHEDco’s youth programs.
  • Develop and maintain family outreach programs and community partnerships.
  • Create and facilitate youth development events, meetings, and activities for participants.
  • Maintain program calendar, and create flyers and announcements relating to program activities.
  • Facilitate leadership and community service activities for middle school students.
  • Perform need assessments, evaluate and analyze overall programming.
  • Support the planning and implementation of program goals.
  • Coordinate and manage Specialized High School Admissions Test preparation.
  • Assist students with the high school application process.
  • Provide outreach and workshops to parents as needed.
  • Schedule and conduct visits to high schools.

Competitive pay rate based on experience.  This is a part-time/hourly position.

Required Skills/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field and/or 2 years’ relevant experience working with youth ages 12 and older.
  • Demonstrated interest in the field of education, child development or literacy.
  • Able to work late afternoons and evenings.
  • Well organized, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Previous work experience in low-income communities a plus.
