Job Description: Program Aide/Group Leaders/Group Worker
The Booker T. Washington Program Aide/Group Leaders/Group Worker is an essential part of the daily development of our participants. The Program Aide/Group Leaders/Group Worker under the supervision of their coordinator will create and implement creative activities that address the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of elementary, middle and high school students with which they. Program Aides will also serve as a role model for the young people of the program.
Daily Responsibilities:
Working directly with the elementary, middle and high school students in all of their activities (i.e. academics, tutoring, arts, dance, sports, etc.)
Arriving to pick up on time and providing safe transport from their school to the Beacon.
Assisting teachers with participants physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development
Creating and implementing activities, workshops and events for the elementary, middle and high school students based on their interests and with their involvement
Modeling positive behavior for the youth
Engaging the youth in dialogue (one-to-one and group discussions) around topics of concern for their age group / developmental stage
Assisting in the completion of homework, test/regent prep and school assignments and research.
Helping students identify and apply to the junior high schools / high school of their choice
Maintaining the up keep of classroom binders/supplies
Wear uniform and ID throughout each shift.
Supervision:
The Program Aides/Group Leaders/Group Worker will report directly to their Component Coordinator.
Minimum Requirements:
Current college student or BA
Previous experience working with youth and families in an academic capacity.
Excellent verbal, writing, and listening skills.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Familiar with issues prevalent in underserved communities of color.
Ability to take initiative
Work in a team setting
Self Starter
Bi-lingual a plus
Schedule
Program aides/Group Leaders/Group Workers work Monday – Friday between 2:30– 6:30pm. Saturdays based on the needs of the component.
