Activity Specialist / Instructor - Job Description
Overview- The Activity Specialist / Instructor should be a dynamic individual who will work with the program team to deliver and ensure smooth and efficient programming as well as administrative support. This person must be innovative, creative, and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. This person must possess basic researching skills, specifically possessing the ability to research creative projects and activities to present to participants. The Activity Specialist / Instructor is responsible for ensuring the programmatic quality and integrity of all assigned activities. The Activity Specialist / Instructor will be responsible for working as a team member for the benefit of the participant and the program.
Support and Supervision-The Activity Specialist / Instructor will report directly to the Team Leader and or Coordinator of the program to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities:
* Teaches participants skills in an area of expertise
* Responsible for weekly activity lesson plans and work plans
* Participate in identification and recruitment of new participants
* Attend all staff meetings and trainings, including but not limited to DFOY Academy (Trainings are unpaid.)
* Ensure that all attendance sheets are collected at the end of each program day, and numbers are forwarded to the administrator
* Ensure all participants are following agency and program rules and good behavior
* Supervises and provides curriculum leadership for all activities
* Works with program aides to identify participants who may require additional assistance
* Ensuring that program participants are engaged in daily activities and programming
* Attending regular staff meetings, trainings and workshops as needed
* All other duties required to ensure the safety and security of all participants
* Track and support participant academic growth and development
Qualifications:
* Strong public speaking and writing skills
* Strong organizational skills
* A team player with demonstrated commitment to working with inner-city youth and young adults
* Experience in word-processing, database computer software programs, and the Internet
* Bi-lingual (Spanish preferred) is a plus, but not required.
