Job Description:
NIDC’s Eastchester Gardens Cornerstone Program is seeking a creative, energetic and organized Coordinator to start our new Mentoring Initiative for twelve male (12) participants and four (4) to six (6) male mentors. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and three years experience with mentoring coordination and/or volunteer coordination. Successful applicants must demonstrate strong group management and facilitation skills, thorough understanding of curriculum development & planning, the ability to work with urban youth males while providing coaching and feedback to mentors. Responsible for assisting the Center Director with selection of Mentors and participants, overseeing curriculum preparation and delivery, supervising and evaluating mentors, and making sure all registration and attendance is recorded in on-line database. High level organizational skills, conflict mediation skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are expected. This is a part-time position for 15 -20 hours a week with a flexible scheduling between 2pm and 10pm weekdays and Saturdays between 10am – 5pm. Must be available for training on January 28 from 10am – 5pm.
This initiative is a partnership with the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and New York City’s Young Men’s Initiative.
