Job Description:

 Position Summary: Family Life Academy Charter School (FLACS) seeks an experienced, competent, and highly organized and motivated person to be responsible for program development, administration, and supervision of itsExcelNow after school program for students in grades 6-8. In addition, the Program Director, in collaboration with the principal and instructional leadership team, will recruit, train, and provide PD and supervision for staff and collaborate with the facilities dept. to create and implement protocols and policies for site operations and security.

Role and Responsibilities:
The Program Director’s role and responsibilities would include but not be limited to the following:
·         Recruit and retain students
·         Collect and monitor attendance data to ensure attendance target goals are met
·         Recruit and train after-school  program staff
·         Communicate with parents, students and the school  community
·         Collaborate with school instructional leadership team to align after-school  activities with in-school  learning standards, and the needs  and interests of  participating students
·         Observe all activities to ensure that they are aligned with program goals and expectations;
·         create and implement informal and formal assessment tools to monitor and evaluate  the effectiveness of the program (i.e. program quality assurance)
·         Collect data from assessments to identify areas of student growth and need, and to make programmatic adjustments
·         Supervise  and train subcontractors to ensure their participation and activities are aligned with the program goals and expectations
·         Monitor OST budget expenditures and ensure compliance under DCYC guidelines

Required Skills/Experience:


·         B.A. degree in a relevant area;  teaching certification /master’s degree preferred;
·          2 yrs. + experience in a supervisory role; in an educational and/or recreational  setting preferred;
·         Relationship management skills and experience fostering a team approach to youth development
·         Completed coursework for site supervisors mandated under the SACC regulations;
·         Excellent planning, execution and communication skills.
Specifically, a high quality program director will have demonstrated experience:
·         Overseeing the development and implementation of successful  afterschool program(s);
·         Implementing effective student recruitment and retention strategies;
·         Developing and sustaining strong staffing patterns to ensure that qualified and effective after school program staff  provide academic , enrichment and  youth development activities that support social-emotional development;
·         Successfully developing curriculum and professional development of teachers in providing afterschool services in multiple content areas.
·         Meeting or exceeding program goals and objectives as evidenced through program quality self- assessment tools, student attendance records,  and  formal external assessments;
·         Collaborating in program evaluation  and utilizing data to drive decision making;
·         Administering program budget expenditures;
·         Surveying parents, students, and subcontractors/partners in gathering input and feedback as part of program quality assurance.
