Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Senior Director, Y Early Learning Center of the Family YMCA at Tarrytown, the School Age Program Director shall be responsible for developing and managing all aspects of the school age childcare programs, camp and enrichment programs. The Program Director shall promote the growth and further expansion of school age programming.

 

Essential Functions:

1.           Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies. This includes, but is not limited to: state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.     Expands program within the communities in accordance with their strategic and operating plans.

2.           Manages, directs and coordinates the school age child care programs for Tarrytown, Briarcliff, Ossining and Elmsford School Districts. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.

3.           Manages, directs and coordinates enrichment programs in the Irvington and Croton School Districts. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.

4.           Manages, directs and coordinates Croton Summer Camp Program for the Croton School District. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.

5.           Seeks to expand program beyond current districts.

6.           Assists in grant development as it pertains to after school programming.  Assists in grant reporting as deemed necessary.

7.           Recruits, hires, trains, develops schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.  Reviews and evaluates employee performance. Develops strategies to motivate employees and achieve goals.

8.           Manages and controls budgets related to the position.  Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected on a timely basis.

9.           Manages state licenses.  Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.  Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.

10.        Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.

11.        Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

12.        Maintains proper records/department files.

13.        Organizes special events for parents.

14.        Assists with Program Committee meetings.

15.        Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

16.        Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.

17.        Assist in the planning, preparation and execution of YMCA Special Events and the Annual Campaign.

18.        Assists in any related activities as deemed necessary by immediate supervisor and upper management.

Required Skills/Experience:

 1.       Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.

2.       One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.

3.       Minimum age of 21 per NYS Regulations.

4.       Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: 15 Hours of online training for NYS regulations as well as additional YMCA online training hours, CPR; First Aid; AED.

5.       Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program specific certifications.
