Job Description:

University Settlement has been providing a variety of effective and strengths-based community based programs for children grades 6-12. The Activity Specialist will be responsible for facilitating workshops while ensuring the safety and engagement of children. The program will provide academic support; artistic, athletic, cultural, and athletic enrichment; therapeutic services; and opportunities for family involvement.University Settlement has been providing a variety of effective and strengths-based community based programs for children grades 6-12. The Activity Specialist (a.k.a - Soccer Coach) will be responsible for facilitating workshops while ensuring the safety and engagement of children. The program will provide academic support; artistic, athletic, cultural, and athletic enrichment; therapeutic services; and opportunities for family involvement.

Responsibilities:

  • ·         Activity Specialist will work with groups of 20-25 middle school students
  • ·         Teach students a wide range of skills pertaining to soccer mastery
  • ·         Write and revise lesson plans using DYCD framework for approval by director
  • ·         Monitor and report on students’ progress throughout the term of the activity
  • ·         Work with Director in creating game schedules
  • ·         In conjunction with Sports Director, monitor students’ grades and eligibility to play
  • ·         Chaperone and supervise students  at all games

Required Skills/Experience:

 Qualifications:

  • ·         Previous experience   coaching soccer
  • ·         High School Diploma or HSE required
  • ·         Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • ·         Attend planning, supervision, and evaluation sessions
  • ·         Strong communication skills
  • ·         Must be over 18 years old
  • ·         Highly energetic, dynamic, and positive
  • ·         CPR and First Aid Certified preferred
