Job Description:
The West Side YMCA is seeking a qualified individual who will be responsible for the organization, delivery and quality of YMCA programs catering to teens. The Teen Director will be monitoring and supervising all teen programs related to leadership, education, personal development, life skills and job readiness. In addition, s/he will be responsible for supporting Day Camp programming activities and supervision of campers and staff.
Organize and conduct all core and priority programs related to teens that are funded through allocations from the Association Office, private donation or other sources.
Work collaboratively with the Senior Director to develop and monitor budget for teen programs to meet fiscal objectives.
Recruit participants through marketing and distributing program information, including helping to compile program statistics.
Support the planning and development of summer camp.
Coordinate registration and participation in program-related conferences and events.
Provide assessment and a range of appropriate interventions to young people.
Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Address complaints and resolves problems.
Run workshops on teen related issues for teens, families and staff.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community organizations. Assist in appropriate referrals to outside agencies.
Establish and maintain links with service providers in a range of settings including CBO’s, public and private schools and professionals on placement in the service.
Recruit, train, evaluate and develop program staff and volunteers; conduct performance appraisals.
Monitor and update all required staff certifications.
Actively participate in designated meetings, branch fund raising activities and special events.
Required Skills/Experience:
Qualifications
BA/BS in Education or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth, preferably teens and middle school age.
Minimum of 1 year of staff management experience.
Experience with budget management, program development and evaluation.
Strong organizational skills, group facilitation and analytical skills are a must.
