Job Description:
Good Shepherd Services, a leading NYC non-profit committed to the success of young people and families, is currently seeking a Youth Development Specialist, for our Afterschool at Launch Expeditionary Learning Charter School Program in Brooklyn.
The Youth Development Specialist supports the best practices of youth development in all aspects of day and after school programming. The youth development specialist provides individual and group counseling, facilitates an activity in the after school program, implements large school wide projects geared to increase attendance and academic success and leads café jam and community hour.

Required Skills/Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree Preferred or GED/High School Diploma Required with a minimum of 2 years working in a youth development setting.
- Experience with youth development and/or adolescents strongly preferred.
- Ability to create an inclusive environment in program that fosters a sense of community, belonging and connectedness.
- Ability to facilitate large scale group activities on a microphone.
- Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to engage young people and set structure and limits in a group setting.
- Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective.
