Job Description:

Good Shepherd Services, a leading NYC non-profit committed to the success of young people and families, is currently seeking a Youth Internship Coordinator, for our YABC at Walton High School.

The Youth Internship Coordinator works as a team with other YABC/LTW staff to provide students with educational and career resources, support and guidance. He/She develops and manages internships in sectors that meet students' interests.


  • Collaborate with LTW Career Development Facilitator to identify students' career interests and develop ideas for individually tailored internship placements.
  • Provide continuous feedback and resources to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Assist with out-of-school issues and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Engage students' families to support positive outcomes for the student.
  • Develop internships in diverse range of employment fields, to match students' interests, skills, maturity levels, and experience.
  • Provide guidance to employers on maximizing internship experiences by working effectively with adolescents.
  • Provide support to employers and students during internships in the form of phone calls, meetings and site visits.
  • Facilitate weekly seminars for students that focus on building students' skills in education and career development.
  • Facilitate workshops on employment/internship readiness to students not enrolled in semester long preparation classes at YABC.
  • Partner with other YABC/LTW staff to assess students' mastery of skills learned in LTW.
  • Assist students' post-internship with future employment and provide educational and career development counseling and support.
  • Track, evaluate and report on multiple aspects of program operations.
  • Meet regularly with staff from sister LTW sites to share learning, compare approaches and develop new program ideas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree and experience working with adolescents/young adults in educational/employment related fields required.
  • Strong group facilitation skills required.
  • Experience developing internships for youth preferred.
  • Ability to work with diverse staff and students and network with diverse employer constituents.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Statistical and narrative record keeping accountability required.
  • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth development perspective.
