Child day care program development; Safety and security procedures, including communication between parents and staff; Child abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention; Statutes and regulations pertaining to child day care; Statutes and regulations pertaining to child abuse and maltreatment; Education and information on the identification, diagnosis, and prevention of shaken baby syndrome

Youth Professionals Core Competencies Covered:

Safety and emergency requirements; Effective implementation of curricula and program activities; Promoting responsible and healthy decision-making

Supervisor Core Competencies:

Safety and emergency requirements; Effective program implementation and achieving desired outcomes


This NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) approved 15-hour course fulfills the licensing requirement for all new child care providers.

This course also provides existing NYS licensed child care providers with 15 hours of credit toward their 30 hour biannual training requirement.
