Afterschool providers can play a critical role in ensuring that the youth and families they serve understand how to navigate the educational system and are aware of how to advocate for the educational rights of their children. This session will provider participants with an overview of the rights and entitlements of youth and parents in regular and special education as well as an overview of the NYC Department of Education and how it works. Participants will also be provided with resources that can be shared with the youth and families they serve.
Sites can register up to three staff members for this workshop. If space permits closer to the workshop date, we may be able to allow additional staff members to attend as well.

Coffee in the morning provided. Participants are welcome to bring breakfast with them. Participants will receive certificates upon completion of the training.
