Job Description:

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualities and attributes:

  • A strong desire and ability to perform at a consistently high level;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical, research and problem solving abilities;
  • An interest in reading, researching, analyzing, discussing, debating, and exploring various social issues related to youth development; early, elementary, middle and high school education; poverty; teenage pregnancy; gangs, drugs and violence; community organizing and equity.
  • The ability to work long and irregular hours on occasion without complaint;
  • A passion for working with a population that consists primarily of poor and low-income African-American and Latino youth and families who are often disconnected from services and resources that increase the likelihood of success in life;
  • Is self motivated with a desire to do good work and improve current conditions and life outcomes for program participants and their families;
  • Is comfortable working, walking, talking and generally interacting with residents, business leaders, politicians, community activists, and the occasional unsavory characters that populate our community.
  • A willingness to do "whatever it takes" to ensure the success of our youth, families and programs.

Required Skills/Experience:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A desire to work in a non-profit, community based organization that serves a high needs population. Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited but direct supervision. Commitment to excellence and a willingness to learn from an extremely knowledgeable staff and a supervisor who will accept nothing less than your best effort.

Days & Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm, occasional early mornings, evenings and weekend work required.

SALARY: 30K-35K based on commitment, education and experience.
